Why Must They Always Be Right?
Being Right – Is it THAT Important??
I am dealing with something this week that I can’t seem to let go, so I thought I would write about it – that always seems to help me get my mind in order.
Dealing with someone that always has to be right can potentially lead you to believe that you are not accepted for who you are. Part of my work right now is working to know that I am worth it – that I matter. So running into people like this for me, are challenging me and making me think harder about this issue.
My thoughts this week have been centered on why is it that there some people that press things and have to be right? I have a couple people that have crossed my path this week that are in my life on a regular basis but for some reason this week, that are hitting my frustration button. Maybe it is because one of them challenged my 7 year old daughter, who was actually right. My daughter can often press that SHE is right about something that I clearly know she is wrong about. But this situation was different, she was right. (OK, so now I am sounding like I have to be right! Hmmmm??) There are different things that happen, there are some times when someone insists that they are right and you know, like you know you are alive, that they are wrong, then there are times when it is clearly opinion and is something that everyone argues about all the time (religion, politics, abortion, etc) I am normally able to just let it go. I thought that if I reviewed the reasons why letting go is good, it would help me this week!
Letting it go – Why does it help you?
Time Management: By not having to be right – you gain a lot more time. In our busy lives t
here is a huge incentive to letting things go. Instead of spending time on hopping on the Internet to find why you are justified and right, putting together the email that shows how you are right and then reading whatever rebuttal is sent back, you have all that time to put towards something much more important. Why waste time trying to establish why you are right? Is it that big of a deal in the big scheme of life? Save yourself some time – Let it go!
Stress Management: Whenever we work on proving ourselves right; there is a level of conflict that arises. Sometimes this is anger and more often it is frustration. It has been proven in studies that stress impacts our health. If we can let things go and not have to prove we are right all the time our stress levels will reduce and we will be healthier.
Stronger Relationships – By always having to be right instead of letting things slide; one tends to have rockier relationships; at the very least they will be less authentic. Many times I will avoid people that need to be proving something all the time. It isn’t enjoyable to be around someone that needs to be right. And at other times, I avoid even offering my opinion because it isn’t worth it which means the other person doesn’t REALLY know me. We can improve our relationships by letting others have their opinion and knowing inside that we are right.
Ego Management – By letting things go and choosing not to argue about something; help
s keep that “ego” part of ourselves in check. Keep in mind that there are MANY definitions of ego and here I mean that defensive part of ourselves, that seems to often be in a fight or flight mode. The more we exercise management of the defensive monkey brain turf thing, the stronger we become within ourselves.
It’s important to choose your battles! There are times that you should stand up! When someone is crossing your boundaries and wants you to do something, and you feel it is wrong, yes – you should stand up and ensure that you always do what feels right for you.
OK, that feels better – - anyone have any other ideas why letting go of needing to be right helps?

Enjoy The Journey!
We have wants and desires and we want them now. We put pressure on ourselves and our desires. Right
NOW! Our culture is full of over spending and debt due to a lack of self discipline and a need for instant gratification. It is full of people who work to start businesses but can’t get them going and then they blame others. We start moving towards our dreams and goals and because it doesn’t happen quickly enough we stop; we give up. We often stop dreaming or wishing for things to be different because the stress associated with our lack of patience drives us to start living life day to day without the dreams and wishes that can lead us down paths towards a better life.
“Impatience is only another form of resistance. It is resistance to learning and changing. When we demand that it be done right now, completed at once, then we don’t give ourselves time to learn the lesson involved with the problem we have created.” Louise Hay
I’d like to suggest that we look at everything we want like a vacation. We would not look forward to a vacation, have the first day get there, and then go to work that day. We would not look at a destination and then not take the steps, or the car, or the airplane to get to our destination. We must make the journey. We must get in the car, the airplane, or take the steps towards that destination.
Looking forward to vacation we get excited and anxious for the first day to arrive. We get more done on that last day before vacation than several days combined prior. Then the day arrives, WE ARE ON VACATION!! We head to an airport, or we pack the car or perhaps we just sleep in. Each day, each sight we drink in and savor and as it comes to an end we get mixed feelings. Some sadness that it’s ending but also some relief that we are getting back to our routine.
In the journey we need to savor the daily events, the things we see, the giggles and laughing and bird song that we hear, the people that we meet and the learning of new things we would not have learned or done had we not had to wait for that end desire.
“Do not judge the journey by the path you’re now on: Like driving cross country you can’t possibly know in advance if or where you may encounter detours, hairpin turns or passing cars with noses and whatnot pressed to the window; moreover little if any of the scenery you travel through will remotely resemble the destination you have in mind yet neither the constellations you see, nor the unexpected maneuvers you take will ever mean you aren’t headed exactly where you want to go as swiftly as possible getting closer every flippin day.” Mike Dooley
Yes, sometimes it DOES take a long time…but look at it this way… you get more opportunity for learning new things, doing new things and meeting new people all of which will help you have a better end result.

3 Ways To Improve Your Life
Everyone has challenges.
Everyone has problems.
Everyone has road blocks.
Everyone has conflict.
Everyone experiences a rocky road from time to time.
Not everyone works on making their life better.
Not everyone decides to own their part of their problems.
Everyone that decides to own their part of their problems makes their life better.
There are millions of ways to make improve your life, but here are 3 actions you can take that steps towards making your life better.
Taking ownership or accountability for your problems.
It is only when you look at things in your life and decide to change yourself and the things that you control that things can take a turn. You can’t change other people – you can only change yourself. Give up all excuses; give up blaming and complaining.
Looking for the root cause/core issues.
It is likely that a cause of the problems in your life have to do with resentment, fear, criticism or guilt. By looking at the problems you have in your life you can start to uncover the core issues. This is a bit easier said than done. Looking at ourselves and trying to see through our limiting beliefs is much harder than judging others experiences. Start by noticing themes. Do you always meet people that do X to you? Is Y always happening? Once you find a theme; look to see how you feel about the transgression. Think back to being a kid – did you ever have this same feeling? Once you can start pinpointing the core issues you can start working on the healing.
Choosing to be positive.
Choosing to be positive does not mean you ignore reality; it doesn’t mean you don’t work at fixing things that are not right. What it does mean is that you realize that there isn’t anything that you can do about something that has already happened except for change the way you look at it right NOW. Look for the positives in what happened and look for the ways to try and heal yourself. Many times this starts with forgiveness.
What are your feelings on these steps? There are many things that one can do, but we all need a place to start… how about with these 3 ways to improve your life?

3 Ways to Move From Unconscious to Conscious Thinking
Have you ever done something and looked back and wondered why the heck it happened? For ins
tance – ever eat too much and wonder why you didn’t stop at that first helping? Or ever get back from shopping and know that you spent more than what you had planned on spending? What has been the answer to the “Why?”? I would be willing to bet that the answer is often, “I don’t know”; or “I guess I just wasn’t thinking!”. And these are the answers IF the question is even asked.
We are very busy; there never seems to be enough time in a day. The list of things that we want to get done often never get touched. We are rushing here and rushing there; taking care of the home, our jobs and our families.
This week the topic of unconscious verses conscious thinking came up in several areas of my life. What is unconscious thinking? This is when we are not aware of the thoughts that are going through our heads. Our inner intuitive voice gets shut out and is rarely heard during this kind of thinking.
While thought is unconscious our decisions become decisions that we would not make had we been actually
THINKING. If we aren’t really THINKING we make bad decisions. Good decisions are made when we can see and recognize the consequences. If we are thinking unconsciously, we aren’t asking ourselves what will happen IF. We don’t even think in terms of consequences. Part of personal development and improvement of our lives requires that we find out how to always be conscious and mindful of our thoughts. Thoughts create things!
We can eat healthier if we consciously eat: we will recognize when we are not hungry any longer; we will make better and healthier food decisions. (Read “Mindless Eating” by Brian Wansink for some interesting insights to other things that occur while eating without thinking)
We will be more productive if we consciously make decisions: instead of hitting that snooze button we will recognize that it is better for us to get an early start on the day. Waking up a little bit early to exercise or meditate, or get started on a project will ensure our success in reaching goals.
We will communicate better if we are thinking consciously when we speak to others: if we are fully present in our conversations we will recognize when others may not hear us the way we intended. If we recognize these misunderstandings early we can improve all of our releationships.
3 Methods to move from Unconscious to Conscious thinking
Be in the now: While your mind is thinking about the future your unable to pay close attention to what is going on with you now. While you are beating yourself (or others) up over the past your now will be gone - wasting energy and not focusing on and ensuring your now is perfect. Not being in the now only sets you up for continuing the cycle of worrying about the future and “what if’-ing” about the past.
Meditate: Meditation has been proven to slow ones thinking down. Meditating will help you suddenly find spaces between your thoughts that had not been there before, giving you time to make the decisions that are right for you, making sure you start hearing your inner intuitive voice.
Slow Down: I heard this week that we often feel that life is about nouns and verbs, but if we look at life being about the punctuation, the periods, the commas and exclamation points we can pause and not only enjoy what the experience is at the moment but make room for the conscious thinking that helps us improve our lives.
I would love to hear other techniques on how you have been able to start slowing down enough to think consciously – Please feel free to comment!

New Ideas Need Gestation
I seem to go through different cycles of the type of reading or things I pay attention to, or perhaps it is the Law of Attraction at work giving me the things I need to hear and read. Recently my attention has been centered more on spirituality. I have been listening to a really great series put on by Feminine Power called Women on the Edge of Evolution. The speakers they have for this are just great and they are all free and downloadable for play. (Click here to register and access the recordings!)
Today I heard a piece that really made me think. It made me think – because of the space I find myself in right now. If you know me or are following the blog you know that I set out on a path 8 months ago to move away from the corporate world. In that, I became very excited about one opportunity that I am involved with. This opportunity led me down a road of education. LOTS of internet marketing and Web 2.0 education. And it has been a blast. I have loved doing this. It also led to reading several books one of which (EMyth) took me deeper into thought around the exact business that I was going to start. (Here is my review of The EMyth Revisited and the review of The EMyth Enterprise.) After reading these books and moving through the education, I have created a slight modification of what I had been originally looking at doing – both in my mind and on paper. Then I hit a vacation, a couple projects at the J.O.B. and another week off and to my surprise and dismay – no real movement forward on my business. I spent my vacations totally unplugged. (Many have said this is a good thing – however – there is a voice inside me saying if I want to start a business then I need to spend some time on it.) I have been vacillating between beating myself up and telling myself all is as it should be. The recording I heard that impacted me so much on this subject was the teleseminar with Mary Manin Morrissey.
The conversation was focused on having ideas, passions and feelings of purpose and the feelings of impatience around this, that can settle in when working towards something new. She said something that made an impact on me and resonated with me. She indicated that every idea, every change, has an evolution. Like everything in our universe – everything has a path that it follows from creation to birth, whether it is a seed that is planted in the ground or a baby growing in a mommy’s tummy. There is a period of time that things go through gestation. This is the time that something sits and prepares to be born. Trees, babies, and yes, even ideas. So, we come down again to patience. Patience has never been easy — I remember hearing “Patience (Patients) are for doctors!” Through this way of thinking about it, I am reminding myself that things take time, not everything can be rushed (to spite how the world pushes everything) and to give myself the ok for this break. When this is ready to be born, things will activate again. I need to focus on what matters and be grateful for all that I have in my life today. Remember the power of NOW!
Would love to hear anyone else’s ideas on how they remain patient waiting for things to take their own time.

Self Analysis – My Head Hurts

My goodness! Since my last post I have been doing quite a bit of self analysis. I have gotten more of my 360 answers back. The conclusions that I had come to last post were:
- 1. My avoidance of conflict and speaking my own mind and opinion is something that I want to be better with.
2. Past child hood pains (fear of the withdrawal of love when not meeting others expectations) is something I need to acknowledge and resolve as best I can. Love myself!
3. Improving my communication skills; being able to describe my authentic feelings and thoughts in such a way that do not come across defensively.
And with the additional feedback; I am finding that these things remain the same. One of the responders was a former boss and her comments surrounded a lack of self-confidence which still falls into these three main conclusions.
I would love to have any feedback on ways to improve these things; things that I can do. Some ideas that I have come up with myself are:
- Continue Blogging being as authentic as I can
- Get active on some social networking sites where I can not only exercise contributing my opinions but where I can also meet others that are doing the same thing I am. I have been active in Social Networking but I am looking more towards finding a group that I can be a part of where I may find mentors or people that I can help mentor.
- Books – Find books that I can read that may help me with these things.
(Just got an update from the Goal Development Program and there was another suggestion on how to over come lack of self-confidence – GIVE it to someone else; so find someone that needs a boost and help give that)
Others? Would love to hear thoughts; book ideas, etc for working towards improvement around these items.
The other exercise with the Goals Development Program is working on the actual goals – 2010 goals and then 10 year goals. I had already done some work here so it wasn’t real difficult. Although when I look at my mission and vision created through this program along with the content of The E-Myth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber I am re-thinking the ultimate vision of the company I want to have and the steps to getting the company up and running. More accurately, these two things are combining to show me I am not thinking far enough in the future about what I want this business to be ultimately.
The Internet Marketing I have been involved with for the last six months plays a role in the present and future. I am a firm believer that the Internet must be part of any future business. This means that my primary product and the affiliate business that is being set up within the personal development industry is part of the picture. I love teaching; and my current path has led to a successful result directly in this direction; I will be teaching a Facebook for Beginners class in the spring through Colorado Free University. Should I pursue teaching and build on to the technical aspects and then move more into the personal development and growth topics in the future. Am I creating a business or another J.O.B. What can I do around the things that I love (personal development and teaching) that create an actual business that can create the freedom that I am looking for? These are all questions that I have been contemplating for the last week or so and my head is getting full! If this, then this – what about this, what about that – WHEW!

Designing The Next 10 Years
It has been a couple weeks since my last post and SO much is going on. This post will center on a great program I started offered through Darren Hardy’s Success.com site. So far it has been two weeks of self analysis. (It is an 8 week program and you can sign up to get the exercises (during the 8 weeks) – Click here to sign up)
The program started out by having me review the last 10 years, looking at my milestones, risks and regrets. It is amazing what has happened in the last 10 years. I have had a beautiful daughter; we have moved from New York City to Denver, purchased our first home, I have held a Director position, was laid off; started over in a technical support role after 9 months of unemployment, was promoted to a manager within 2 years and as I worked to move my way up the ladder I held leadership roles in the women’s diversity group and… started my own company. Just think – if all this happened in 10 years without goals; what can happen in 10 years with goals!
The next part had questions and blanks to fill in about what I am grateful for. The next tasks were a look at strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; there was an exercise to look at how balanced (or like I learned from James Ray - harmonized) my life is. Each category had several questions and I rated each question i
n each category; added up each category and then the total was graphed. My graphed out answers made a PacMan. This tells me I have done a really great job harmonizing my life in all categories but one – Financial. James Ray, in his book Harmonic Wealth (Click here for a review of the book), teaches how balance is bogus; harmony should be the goal. It is like music, at one moment all instruments may be playing together and the next the drums will stop; and then… the drums start back up. This is our goal in life – to have all the areas of our life playing in harmony and be ok when one area isn’t playing at full level. This exercise showed me I do need to focus some time on the financial part of my life. Thus as I work through this eight week program I will be adding some financial goals to what I had already put together for this years goals.
One final task was to send some questions to 3 people that are close to me. There were three questions they were to answer. 1) What skill or attribute gives me an advantage in life? 2) What one thing could help me better succeed with people and in life? 3) What behaviors, lack of discipline or attitudes do you think hold me back? As of now I have not gotten back all the responses; however what I have gotten back has led me to some major self talk, analysis and time in thought.
One response was that I do not thoroughly look at all sides of an issue prior to taking an opinion.
My initial surface thoughts
- this came from an individual that I avoid conflict with
- the conversations referred to; happened over email
As I worked through this, my major objective was to see how I can benefit (and not point fingers or get defensive) from this feedback. The conclusions I have come to are:
- My avoidance of conflict and speaking my own mind and opinion is something that I want to be better with.
- Past child hood pains (fear of the withdrawal of love when not meeting others expectations) is something I need to acknowledge and resolve as best I can. Love myself!
- Improving my communication skills; being able to describe my authentic feelings and thoughts in such a way that do not come across defensively.
The other response that I struggled with, and still am in many ways, was that I have rose colored glasses and that by being too Pollyanna others will not take me seriously… and also that I am doing “too much”; That I am trying to be super woman and that if I do this I will not be able to do things well.
I have, myself, considered that I might be trying to do too much. However, when I look at how my life is coming together right now; how some things I have been doing have led to ideas, to people and to other paths that have opened up new avenues – I think that my life – as busy as it is – is just perfect. The things that I value the most; my family and personal growth are not being impacted. My work/play takes place during the normal work day and early in the morning. I am picking up my daughter almost every day from school and from this moment until we go to sleep is family time. We have dinner together; we play games and enjoy each others company. During the few times the TV goes on, I will pick up my computer but outside of that – work/play is placed to the side while we are all together. My physical exercise is also something that I will not allow to be impacted by the tasks I am involved in. Everything else – is getting done. I have prioritized them and there are a couple of things towards the very bottom of the list that are not getting done as well as they could, however it is a very conscious decision. I feel that what is happening here is that I am starting to do things that many others see as risky and that they don’t understand. As I was contemplating this, I read a blog post from T Harv Eker; and in that post was the following message:
“… at some point we’ve got to tell the ego that it’s okay to step into the unknown and dare to be different. Think of all the people throughout history that, if they hadn’t stepped “outside the lines,” we’d have never evolved as quickly as we did. We’d still think the world was flat, or that the universe revolves around us, or that “normal” people couldn’t do amazing things.
When you stop playing it safe, your spirit is free to grow, expand and create. Individual, family and social “rules” don’t apply.
It takes guts to be different; to stand out from the crowd; to break free from the “clone drone” society and be a true individual.
When others criticize you for doing something “different” it’s usually because they’re scared. Inside, they’re secretly stoked that you’re breaking free. They’re just frustrated with themselves for lacking the courage to do the same. Be their inspiration!”
As is usual, something comes to me and I see it as an answer to my contemplation and this was the answer for me on the “doing too much” comment. I am going to continue doing the amount of things I am doing as long as this does not conflict with my values, I am good. As far as the Pollyanna comment? The mind is still contemplating this one! Would love to hear your comments – Do you think that people that are optimists and “too nice” are people that don’t get taken seriously?

2010 Right From the Heart!
Anyone out on the internet or anyone belonging to email lists is sure
to have noticed that the New Year is here. Everyone is talking about goals, resolutions and other forms of starting out this New Year right. We even had a “Blue Moon” this year!
I am no different; I too have been excited and motivated around reviewing my goals and getting set for the New Year. As I was walking with my dad on our Saturday morning walk I made a comment about how interesting it is that this one day can have such an affect on our motivation and plans. What makes January 1st different and more unique then, lets say, March 1st or October 1st? As we discussed this, I realized that it IS a time where we just passed the Solstice which means our days start getting longer (we get more day light), there is a sense that winter will be moving on and Spring will be here soon. Jim Rohn spoke of having seasons in our life, and I suppose that January is a time that represents the planning time for the spring. We can think about the flowers and the pots and fertilizing and all of the things that will bring light and beauty to our springs and summers.
I continue to feel impatience at times – over not getting “there” fast enough. Where ever “there” is. I continue to get messages on remaining patient and persevering - for instance, I just signed up for Lolly Daskal’s Messages From Within (highly recommended) and through this I received a message talking about Beginnings. Bottom line; we are all so wrapped up in getting “there” that we don’t realize that it is all one beginning after another. There is no real destination but it is a journey to enjoy each day; each beginning. She urged us to trust our intuition, trust our inner guidance and know that the actions we take each day are the right ones.
We get caught up in our day to day life, in the ultimate dreams and desires – often we don’t believe we are going to get there, and achieve it – that what results - is empty action. We can be very busy and not feel that we are getting any closer to our actual goals and dreams. There are times that I can spend hours surfing the net and end up feeling that I didn’t get anything done. I wasn’t getting motivation, I wasn’t learning, I was just numbly reading through different things. How much of this is our lack of self confidence kicking in and as we hear often – that our thoughts become our actions, perhaps the lack of confidence kicks in and the action is the mindless numbing activity that we can find ourselves in. If we can learn to enjoy each day and know that we are going to achieve the things we want, trust our inner guidance and know we can learn to feel more confident and then start to take advantage of the inner thoughts and voices that tell us what step to take next perhaps the massive action that takes place will result in great beginnings.
I am excited to continue moving my life; continuing to work on my patience and enjoyment of the journey. I want to do all that I do, Right From the Heart. The one thing I DO know, I am not quitting!

Personal Development Journey – December 18, 2009
Since I last posted we have hit our busy time of year. My daughter’s birthday is at the beginning of the month, the schools Holiday Fair is at the beginning of the month and now Christmas is upon us. I love this time of year. My daughter turned 7 this month and we had several celebrations. Her party was held at a local recreation center with a pool and included her female classmates. We ended up with 13 wonderful, giggly, excited little girls and 3 parents (due to a limitation on people at the rec center – in hindsight… I should have broken the rule!) Although handling the girls exit from the pool was challenging the rest of the party went off well. Aliera was happy, the girls were happy and the parents seemed happy.
As far as business accomplishments this last couple week, with my time being dedicated to the fun December events there have been only a few tangible results with both the business and also at the corporate job. I am not concerned with the plateau at this time. The biggest work the last couple weeks has been mental. There is an underlying theme to what I have been working through and I can see Law of Attraction at work. As I mentioned in my 30 day challenge posts (first break, second break) as well as my Breakthrough event in Cancun, I have ran into a realization that I am not always connected to the present. I am not IN me at all times and the result is that I make decisions without thinking and I do things without always being fully present. I wasn’t sure where I was going to go to work on this and get better around this, however I have felt confident that the Universe would deliver and it definitely has.. in a couple differe
nt ways. First off, my audio downloads I have been listening to: Wallace D. Wattles’ Science of Getting Rich (mentioned in the last Play by Play blog post) and Eckhart Tolle’s Findhorn Retreat. And thirdly, I belong to a group that meets monthly to discuss things around what I like to call personal development “stuff” – spiritual metaphysical pursuits, etc. and because of our last meeting I am reading through Ram Dass’ Be Here Now. (By the way, you can download The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D. Wattles for Free from HERE)
All three of these things are supporting each other and answering part of my needs. All three of these talk about being present and being in the NOW. They talk about doing what you do today with thoroughness and no expectation or feelings of need/desire from tomorrow. Science of Getting Rich talks about envisioning what you want. This is also part of the Asking in Law of Attraction. I spent time on two thi
ngs this week (as it relates to the new business) and that is continuing to study the three materials and the envisioning. I have been wanting to put together a vision board for at least a year, but have had a couple blocks with it. 1) Finding the pictures I need in the magazines I get and 2) Time to spend really looking for other magazines for the pictures to cut out and then assemble the vision board. So, I came up with the idea of the Vision JPEG. I wrote an article on how to put this Vision JPEG together if you have any interest!
I have also outlined some 2010 goals. I have put together a list of goals and written them down and do monthly and daily work towards them. This is the first year I will have GOALS and not a resolution (although I haven’t done a resolution for years!) I put together an entire list of my goals within the last year, but didn’t start 2009 with them. With this change in my life and even prior to this there was a realization that having goals and having them written down is important and has made a huge difference in my life and what I am able to accomplish.

Some of my key 2010 goals are:
* Run a 5K by June
* Do 11 30 Day Challenges
* Finish my Goals E-book
* Go to NY for Thanksgiving
* Redo our upstairs Bathroom – November

The Personal Development Journey Continues
It is ever so exciting. The Thanksgiving Holiday was a wonderful time spent with my family and so I did have some time away from everything “computer”. However, there was still time for moving forward on my path. The previous week had been spent on writing articles and this week my time turned to more training. I did some training on Wordpress Blogs and have, in response to that training, revamped my blog. Although I did lose my “hearts” I believe it has a much more professional look as well as being able to take the first steps towards monetization. (If you don’t know what monetization is click here.)
One of my struggles with this journey has been the balance between doing the job that I always have done in my corporate career and the work it is taking to get my business running. How much energy and dedication do I put into my J.O.B.? With that struggle and question, this week the answer came in a combination of forms. First was a book I have known about for years but have never read. I have had it in my possession since April 2006. During the week off, I downloaded Science of Getting Rich. It was written by Wallace D. Wattles in
1903; published in 1911 and it became the answer to the thoughts and questions I have been putting out there. This book was Rhonda Byrnes motivation behind The Secret. Bob Proctor built a program around this concept. There are other Law of Attraction teachers that quote and mention Wallace D. Wattles as well. Wallace mentions Emerson as one of the philosophers that he pulled his material from. The Science of Getting Rich really is Law of Attraction at its core. What I immediately got from it (and I am still working through it and studying it) dealt with the struggle of working to start this business and still working in the corporate world. The advice from this book was really what I needed to hear. My summary is
1. I don’t have to hurry
2. My actions need to be those pertaining to the work I am engaged in
3. I must do all that I can do where I am
4. I must fill the place that I am presently holding
5. Do not overwork
6. Do not rush blindly into actions
7. Be efficient in everything I do
8. Believe in the truth – to spite appearances
Basically, I had a renewed engagement in my corporate job knowing that my business will take shape as I continue to that the steps that I need to take daily. Those steps may be with my corporate job, those steps may be my business but I will do what I can do every day and do what needs to be done every day and do each thing I do efficiently. It seems somewhat simple but it brought a huge relief.
The next thing that happened as an answer to this struggle and went hand in hand with this book was the reading of a friends blog… Mary Salfi ( Check out her blog here! ) In this blog she is talking about the same material and I took a couple key points away:
1. Even if you are not in the ideal situation you can get there
2. That we have things in our life exactly as they need to be
After reading this blog one early morning I did a quick turn into one of my favorite books Notes from the Universe: New Perspectives from an Old Friend by Mike Dooley
What I do, is when I am drying my hair, I will randomly find a page and read it for the day. This particular day, after reading her blog I read the following:
You see, it’s the same
With everything. It must happen in thought first. It must. Even when, especially when, by all outer appearances, your desires seem preposterous.
Anyone can think happy thoughts when they’re happy, wealthy thoughts when they are wealthy, healthy thoughts when they’re healthy.
Your life’s mission was to create the state you’re on now so that you’d have reason to awaken from your slumber. To have dreams worth pursuing and the passion to press on in spite of the conditions surrounding you. To learn you must look beyond your illusions and grasp that your dreams are indeed what’s meant to be.
This is the Holy Grail. Your search is over. Go out on a limb, give it your unending best, and never, ever, ever give up. There haven’t been any accidents, you haven’t made any mistakes, and the perfection is excruciating – you’ll see.
Carry on brave heart.
And then… I received a really nice phone call from a friend in NY who wanted to call and let me know her thoughts on my blog.
All of these things, were to me, clear signs and indications that I am on the correct path, that I continue to do what I am doing each day knowing that I can’t make a mistake and that what I want is there even to spite the appearances, that there is truth in my vision and my desires.
